Medical energy rebate needed now

The NSW Government must act on recommendations made by MS Australia to implement an additional energy rebate for people on low incomes who cannot maintain a stable body temperature because of a medical condition.

“Complaints about energy provision have jumped in 2008/09, even though the largest electricity price rises in years took effect after the reporting period, and we’re yet to see electricity privatisation” said Charmaine Crowe, CPSA Policy Coordinator.

“The people of NSW are not fooled. Electricity privatisation will see households paying more for their electricity, and low-income households seriously financially disadvantaged,” said Charmaine Crowe, CPSA Policy Coordinator.

Pensioners alarmed at 60% price hike for electricity

“The reported 60% jump in the price of electricity in 2013 will mean pensioner and other low-income households will have no choice but to turn off the lights,” said Charmaine Crowe, CPSA Policy Coordinator.

Pensioners welcome commitment to abolish ID card fee

“Pensioners welcome the commitment made by the NSW Liberals and Nationals to abolish the $44 charge for a photo ID card issued by the RTA” said Charmaine Crowe, CPSA Policy Coordinator.
