Increases to the costs of essentials such as energy, water, communications and food have a disproportionately negative impact on pensioners and other low-income households as a greater proportion of their income is consumed in meeting these costs.

Telcos want untimed local calls scrapped

UNTIMED local calls would become a thing of the past if the telcos got their way. As part of the Government’s deregulation plan, telcos put forward a proposal to axe the requirement that they charge a standard price of 22 cents for local calls regardless of the length of the call.
