“Pensioners are over-represented among home owners who have no building insurance, not because they are trying to dodge the current fire levy but because they simply cannot afford the premiums”, said Senior Policy Advisor, Amelia Christie.
“The NSW Government should state its position on the future of the Pensioner Water Rate Rebate, because in country areas, this rebate is linked to the Pensioner Council Rate Rebate, which has been the target of possible cuts[1]”, said Senior Policy Advisor, Charmaine Crowe.
“CPSA welcomes the announcement that the Low Income Household Rebate which rises to $225 from 1 July will now be available to pensioners living in retirement villages”, said Senior Policy Advisor, Amelia Christie.

To coincide with the Premier’s Christmas Gala Concerts for NSW seniors, CPSA is launching a petition calling for the Council Rate Rebate to be increased and indexed.
IPART released the Local Government rate peg for 2013/14 today which will see the rates of NSW’s 152 local councils go up by 3.4 per cent.
