Feds not interested in fire sprinklers

Along with the mandatory sprinkler announcement, the NSW Government also announced that nursing home operators will need to inform residents, prospective residents and families about whether sprinklers are installed.

Keep on dobbing in nursing home fire traps

ANOTHER domino has fallen. CPSA congratulates the NSW Government for making fire sprinkler systems mandatory in all NSW nursing homes, following the lead of Victoria and Queensland.

Small nursing homes and fire safety

MANY small private and not for profit nursing homes across NSW are not committing to installing fire sprinklers, despite the lives that might be saved if these facilities have a fire.

Big Nursing Home Barons Disappoint on Fire Sprinklers

DURING July 2012, CPSA made over 200 phone calls to nursing homes across NSW to ask the question “Does your facility have fire sprinklers installed?"

The responses received have been both surprising and, at times, horrifying.

A positive move to address elder abuse

THE NSW Ageing Strategy was released on 9 July and CPSA is very pleased that it includes provisions for an Abuse of Older People Helpline and Resource Unit.
