Evaluation

Independent Evaluation of the Health Promotion Service

HPSOP underwent formal evaluation by leading social research and evaluation company CIRCA Research in 2013. The Report assessed the effectiveness of the peer education model which is at the heart of HPSOP, and found both the model and the specific service to be an effective means of imparting health promotion information to older people in environments and venues that meet their needs.  The report concluded that:

  • there is demonstrable value in peer education as a method to communicate health information to older people;
  • the service has been outstanding in its capacity to deliver health information to CALD older people; and
  • the service has been successful in attracting and retaining experienced peer educators.
