Comments on introduction of bonds for public housing tenants

CPSA welcomes the opportunity to provide comment on the NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) plans to introduce tenancy bonds for public housing tenants. This submission first identifies a number of changes that must be made to the draft policy if it is to be introduced. It then raises a number of concerns that have not been fully explored or explained in the draft policy document which CPSA was provided.

Review of the Local Government Rating System (Draft Report)

CPSA will again limit its submission to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) on the Local Government Rating Revenue review to the pensioner council rebates.

CPSA is disappointed that IPART has recommended the abolition of the pensioner concession rate concession and its substitution by a rate deferral scheme. CPSA notes that, in public statements on the day of the draft report’s publication, the Local Government Minister Paul Toole was at pains to point out that the Government would “not be doing anything that disadvantages pensioners.” Minister Toole is clearly aware that pensioners would consider a rate deferral scheme to replace a rebate scheme as something that disadvantages them.

Submission to Senate Economics Committee on Budget Savings (Omnibus) Bill 2016

CPSA welcomes the opportunity to comment on the Budget Savings (Omnibus) Bill 2016 and notes that this submission has been prepared in consultation with Carers NSW.
