"It’s ironic that WA is abolishing part of this economically booming state’s Older Driver Testing regime on the grounds that it is too expensive, while budget-deficit stricken NSW continues with its draconian and expensive testing regime,” said CPSA Policy Coordinator Paul Versteege.“WA Treasurer Troy Buswell hits the nail right on the head when he says that older drivers are safe drivers and testing them is an imposition on senior drivers and the health system.
“Older driver testing is unnecessary, discriminatory and expensive to the taxpayer.
“CPSA calls on the NSW Government to honour its election commitment and abolish older driver testing. Road safety won’t suffer and it’s fairer and cheaper all around,” said Versteege.
CPSA represents pensioners of all ages, superannuants and low-income retirees. CPSA has 137 Branches and Affiliated Organisations, with a combined membership of 31,000 people.
